Music News: Prince exhibit opens at Mall of America

by Staff

October 20, 2016

An exhibit of Prince artifacts from the Paisley Park collection has opened at the Mall of America. Located on Level 3 East, Prince: The Artist, the Icon, the Legend will be open through Nov. 14. It was announced to help make up for the unexpected delays in permanently opening Paisley Park.

The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, features "rare artifacts and wardrobe selected from the Paisley Park Archives," according to a press release. That includes "items never before placed on exhibit — showcasing celebrated moments from Prince’s career, including the wardrobe seen in the 'Raspberry Beret' video and the custom outfit made for Prince to wear at the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony."

The Current's Jay Gabler, Cecilia Johnson, and Andrea Swensson are heading out to see the exhibit Friday morning; follow them for updates, and watch for a review on the Local Current blog Friday afternoon.
