Vintage footage from a new wave dance club in the 1980s, posted online several years ago, is now going viral — and if you haven't seen it, you've got to check it out before your next synthpop dance party. Unreleased Prince recordings coming next year?
Rolling Stone has just published an extensive report on the Prince estate. Much of the news is familiar to Minnesotans who have been following Prince's legacy closely, but there are a few intriguing new tidbits. Among them: Graceland has invested "millions of dollars" in Paisley Park to get it in shape for public tours starting Oct. 6, and the estate is aiming to begin releasing some of the music from Prince's vast vault next year.
AC/DC bassist announces retirement
Cliff Williams, who's played bass in AC/DC since 1977, has announced his retirement. Discussing his reasons to step down, Williams mentioned Malcolm Young’s leaving the band due to dementia; the criminal conviction of drummer Phil Rudd; and the departure of vocalist Brian Johnson due to hearing loss. "I feel in my gut it's the right thing," says Williams in a video posted to AC/DC's YouTube account. (Rolling Stone)

Recording industry continues to grow
After experiencing a difficult post-CD slump, the U.S. recording industry has begun to spring back ’ thanks to streaming. Revenues were up 8.1% in the first half of 2016, and the growth is driven by digital revenue, especially revenue from streaming. It looks like the vinyl boom might have finally peaked: shipments of vinyl records have slightly dipped this year over last. (Billboard)

Oasis doc coming to theaters
Supersonic, a new documentary about Oasis, will play in U.S. theaters for one night on Oct. 26. Participating theaters in Minnesota are the Lagoon Cinema in Minneapolis and Zinema 2 in Duluth. (Pitchfork)
