Danielle Cusack signs off as Local Current DJ in Residence
August 01, 2016
I’ve always been really into music my entire life, and as long as I can remember I’ve been on the lookout for new bands to obsess over. I never really was into my local music scene back in NY because I lived in an area where it was super rare to even find local bands. When I moved to Minnesota and started seeing shows, I became a changed person. The MN scene is so strong music wise, as well as having a great community attached to it.
When Kelsey asked me to be the Local Current DJ, I was so excited to just be able to showcase the scene that I know and love with playing my favorite artists each week. It was also so great to find new bands/musicians through choosing the music and being able to share it with everyone! I was initially super scared, but The Current was so supportive and awesome. I felt welcomed every time I came in, and I hope to maybe sometime in the future be able to DJ again.
Thanks to everyone who was able to listen in, it meant a lot to have people actually be into what I was playing and rambling about each week. And thanks again to Kelsey and the Current for letting me be able to do this, it’s been a dream since I was little to be a radio DJ. Lots of love to you all!
Local Current’s DJ in Residence project is supported by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
