HBO has gone back on its plans to renew Vinyl for a second season. Though the series — a fictional story set in the New York music industry circa the 1970s, produced by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese — was highly anticipated (and won fans including The Current's Mary Lucia), it proved to be a ratings disappointment. Remembering Wayne Jackson
Trumpeter Wayne Jackson has died of congestive heart failure at age 74. Jackson was best-known as half of the Memphis Horns, his partnership with saxophonist Andrew Love. The Memphis Horns appeared on Stax classics by artists like Dusty Springfield ("Son of a Preacher Man") and Otis Redding, later going on to play on classic recordings by the likes of Elvis Presley ("Suspicious Minds"), Neil Diamond ("Sweet Caroline"), Peter Gabriel ("Sledgehammer"), and U2 ("Angel of Harlem"). Love died in 2012. (Rolling Stone)
Today's Prince estate news
Contrary to his claims, Carlin Q. Williams — a man currently incarcerated in Colorado — is not actually the son of Prince, according to DNA tests cited by an AP source with "direct knowledge of the case." Prince has no known children and left no known will; unless that changes, Minnesota law will award his estate to his surviving siblings. The next court hearing regarding the estate will be on Monday morning, when Judge Kevin Eide is "expected to hear arguments regarding genetic testing protocols for determining heirship," reports the Star Tribune.

Musicians: Don't Brexit, Britain
In the UK, a vote is looming over whether Britain will leave the European Union — if it will, as it's said, "Brexit." Many British musicians have spoken out about their feelings on the matter, with the large majority weighing in on the side of remaining in the EU. Elton John, Brian Eno, Alt-J, Billy Bragg, and Johnny Marr are among those calling for citizens to vote Remain. (Pitchfork)
Two Neil Youngs on a tree stump
What more is there to say? Neil Young joined Jimmy Fallon in character as "Neil Young" on The Tonight Show. (Rolling Stone)
