U to honor Prince
The University of Minnesota's Board of Regents will vote Friday to award an honorary degree to Prince. In a statement, university president Eric Kaler said that plans for the degree had been in the works since before the music icon's untimely death. (Pioneer Press)
Pearl Jam jam with Jack

Today's hair metal news
Black Sabbath have booked what they expect to be their final U.S. shows. After a Nov. 12 show in San Antonio, the band will head abroad for the final leg of what they have said will be their last tour — wrapping up Dec. 4 in Brazil. (Rolling Stone)
Iron Maiden are facing calls for their tour poster to be taken down in Lithuania, where they are "reportedly under investigation for possible violations of a law protecting minors under 14 from 'negative information,'" according to Billboard.
Art-world lawsuit turns on images of Sid Vicious
Artist Richard Prince is being sued by photographer Dennis Morris, whose photos of the late Sid Vicious were incorporated into some of Prince's artwork. Prince, whose work routinely involves the reuse of photos taken by others, has argued that his use of the images is legal as a form of artistic expression. (Billboard)
Loretta Lynn mourns grandson
Loretta Lynn has postponed two performances after the unexpected death, due to undisclosed causes, of her grandson Jeffrey Allen Lynn. "Jeffrey was 47 and lived and worked on Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee," according to a post on Loretta Lynn's Facebook page. "Jeffrey was the eldest son of Jack Benny Lynn, Lynn's second child and eldest son who tragically drowned in 1984." (Billboard)
McCartney goes full-circle on Facebook
