Music News: Rare footage of Prince playing basketball surfaces

Rare video of Prince playing basketball has surfaced in the form of a music video shot in 2000 by David Schwartz, who remembers "he was a trash talker." (Billboard)
Meanwhile, Judge Kevin Eide will decide by Thursday "whether music-industry specialists should be hired to help manage estate assets for potential heirs" of Prince, reports the Star Tribune. Carlin Q. Williams, a man who claims to be Prince's son, has filed an objection, saying such decisions should not be made until heirs can be established.
Many celebrated Prince's birthday on June 7 — but as many also noted, Prince himself did not celebrate birthdays. In a 1999 interview unearthed by Rolling Stone, he explained why: "That stops me from counting days, which stops me from counting time."
Famed Springsteen shows released
Bruce Springsteen has officially released recordings of two 1990 solo acoustic concerts he performed in Los Angeles to benefit the Christic Institute. The compelling performances included the live debuts of two Human Touch songs as well as a guest appearance by Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt for two covers including Bob Dylan’s "Highway 61 Revisited." They're now available to buy as downloads or CDs from Springsteen's website, where the Boss will also sell live recordings of every show on his current European tour. (Rolling Stone)
Band dropped from festival over Brock Allen Turner defense
Brooklyn's Northside Festival has dropped the band Good English from its lineup after discovering that band member Leslie Rasmussen wrote a letter in defense of her childhood friend Brock Allen Turner, who was recently convicted of committing a sexual assault at Stanford University. City Pages landed a rare interview with Mountain, the apparently sentient tour van used by Doomtree. "MOUNTAIN NOT INTERESTED IN EXPOSÉ," said the van when asked about stories from the road, "BUT CAN SAY THAT CECIL OTTER KNOWS ALL WORDS TO ALL LITTLE MERMAID SONGS."
