Music News: Beth Orton deletes video featuring spray-painted Joshua tree

Beth Orton has taken down the video for her song "1973," after being criticized for spray-painting a Joshua tree in the video. Joshua trees are under government protection, and painting them can be harmful. Orton says she believed the tree was dead when she applied the paint, and that she is "truly devastated" to learn she might have harmed a living tree. (Billboard)

Snoop says nope to Roots
Snoop Dogg has sharply criticized the new Roots miniseries, which premiered Monday night. The rapper says he's tired of shows that retread the events of the slavery era. Keith Emerson honored at tribute concert
The late Keith Emerson (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) was honored with a three-hour tribute concert on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Mark Bonilla, who collaborated with Emerson in the Keith Emerson Band, led the proceedings, which featured guests including Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Michelle Moog-Koussa (daughter of Moog synthesizer inventor Robert Moog), and Emerson's son Aaron Emerson.
