Fatal violence erupts at T.I. show

Three were shot, one fatally, at a Wednesday night T.I. concert in New York. Just before the Atlanta rapper was set to take the stage, gunfire broke out in a greenroom. It remains unclear who fired the shots, and why. (New York Times)

Flume previews new album

Australian producer Flume has previewed music from his forthcoming album Skin, which is out on Friday. Flume premiered a Beck collaboration on Beats 1, and streamed the entire album — including one track featuring Allan Kingdom – live on Facebook.

Musicians cancel on Kimmel over Trump

The Weeknd and Belly (the rapper, not the Tanya Donelly band) have canceled a planned appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live because they learned that Donald Trump would be appearing on the same episode. "I just didn't want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that [the] majority of us don't agree with," said Belly in a statement. (Rolling Stone)

Moby releases four-hour ambient album

Moby has released a new album. Long Ambients1: Calm. Sleep. is available via streaming services and as a free download; the artist says it's "really quiet: no drums, no vocals, just very slow, calm, pretty chords and sounds and things for sleeping and yoga, etc." The set's 11 tracks were originally created by Moby as aids to his own relaxation. Kesha covers Dylan (again)

Bob Dylan fan Kesha has performed her second Dylan cover in a week. After doing "It Ain't Me Babe" with Ben Folds at the Billboard Music Awards, Kesha appeared at the Dylan Fest tribute concert — held at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville — to sing "I Shall Be Released." (Rolling Stone)

Jay Z alludes to Lemonade

In a verse appearing on a remix of Fat Joe’s song "All the Way," Jay Z alluded to his wife Beyoncé’s hit album Lemonade — widely understood to be an album about Jay Z's infidelity and the couple's subsequent rapprochement. "You know you made it when the fact/ Your marriage made it is worth millions," raps Jay Z. Then, in a reference to a Gang Starr song, he added, "Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is." Stephin Merritt writing 50 songs for 50 years

Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields is celebrating his 50th birthday by writing and recording 50 songs — each telling the story of one year of his life. Merritt will debut the project in December over the course of two shows at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, subsequently taking 50 Song Memoir on tour to Los Angeles and Seattle. (Billboard)

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke went on Late Night with Seth Meyers and did a dramatic reading of Hanson’s hit "MMMBop" — in Dothraki, a fictional language from Clarke's show.
