The Lowland Lakers: The Mississippi is Between Us Now

The Lowland Lakers have been making music together for several years, and now the folk trio are celebrating the release of their debut album. Recorded on tape (sensing a theme this week?) at the Barn in Northfield, The Mississippi is Between Us Now is out now; the band will be at the Dakota on Friday for a release show. The New Granadas: The New Granadas

"Ghost" is a crunchy slice of power pop from an EP that Minneapolis band the New Granadas will be releasing Thursday with a Turf Club show featuring rocking kindred spirits Little Man and Sleep Study.

J Eastman and the Drunk Uncles make music about substances ("Not the Liquor," "Drink to Myself," "Lack of Medication"), relationships ("Josephine," "Phone Sex"), and John Tesh ("John Tesh"). These roots rockers evoke Uncle Tupelo, and claim to have "climbed to the bottom of the Minneapolis indie rock scene." Unpretentiousness is always a good look, and you can take a good listen when the dudes drop their new album on Friday at the Driftwood Char Bar.

SPICE: Empower

Straight outta Hastings, SPICE is a young rapper with a message of empowerment and social justice. He'll be at the Entry on Thursday to drop his Empower EP as part of a packed bill that also includes Blue Green, North Star Wisdom, and Will Robinson.

Circular Mercury: Different Conditions
