Jeremy Messersmith’s ‘Ghost’ featured in ‘Captain Fantastic’ trailer
April 29, 2016
You may not be able to see ghosts, but you can hear one in the new trailer for this year’s Captain Fantastic. Jeremy Messersmith’s “Ghost,” from his album Heart Murmurs, shows up about a minute and a half into the preview.
Directed by Matt Ross (who acted in American Psycho and The Aviator), Captain Fantastic stars Viggo Mortensen as an idiosyncratic dad forced to leave paradise, effectively ushering his kids into the real world. The trailer offers a couple comedic moments, but the movie is sure to be a hefty drama. After being premiered at Sundance this year, it'll get a wide release via Bleecker Street on July 8.
Although there's no new album promised yet, Messersmith has been writing "lots of new songs" and touring since 2014's Heart Murmurs. He joins other Minnesota artists Rogue Valley and Lizzo in having had work recently featured by Hollywood; an instrumental version of Rogue Valley's "The Wolves and the Ravens" ended up in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty in 2013, and Lizzo recently recorded "Good as Hell" for Barbershop: The Next Cut.
