Minnesota classic rockers to play for Camp Gratitude at the Parkway
April 28, 2016
This summer, Camp Gratitude will host ten military families for a weeklong bonding experience in Marine on St. Croix, Minn. The free-of-charge camp is designed for personnel who have returned from deployment, along with their families, and it offers attendees time to relax, grow, and spend time together.
To help fund Camp Gratitude, several members of Minnesota’s 1960s rock scene will perform at the Parkway Theater on May 1 from 2-10 p.m. The Gestures, the Fabulous Del Counts, and Tony Andreason (of the Trashmen) with the Surf Dawgs are a few featured performers; Robby Vee (son of Bobby Vee) will join “His Rock and Roll Caravan” in a set as well.
Writer Rick Shefchik will be on hand to sign his book Everybody’s Heard About the Bird: The True Story of 1960s Rock 'n' Roll in Minnesota, which was The Current’s Rock and Rock Book Club pick in January of this year.
Tickets to the all-ages fundraiser are $12 from the Parkway or Camp Gratitude’s websites, or $15 at the door.
Here’s the line-up order, which is subject to change:
