"I still feel special coming and playing here," says Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchinson.
Ahead of a show at the Varsity Theater, Frightened Rabbit — Scott Hutchison, Grant Hutchison, Billy Kennedy, Andy Monaghan and Simon Liddell — stopped by The Current (for the third time) to perform in-studio and to chat with host Mary Lucia about their new album.
Painting of a Panic Attack can be taken quite literally. Years ago, on a flight from Boulder, CO to Chicago following a late night show, Hutchinson experienced his first-ever panic attack. Being in a confined space at a high altitude swiftly escalated his lightheadedness, and what he first thought to be a hangover turned out to be the most terrifying moment of his life.
Hutchinson has a handle on his panic attacks now. He hasn't had one in years. However, after taking two years off from touring, anxious dreams have started to reoccur, like playing to a room of four people or forgetting lyrics mid-song.
Luckily neither of those events have happened. Frightened Rabbit fans have filled venues to support the new album, and if Hutchinson forgets the lyrics, the audience surely can sing along.
