Hippo Campus: "South"
Vevo's "dscvr" series is so anxious to find the hottest new bands, it doesn't have time for vowels. Woodbury upstarts Hippo Campus recorded a new live video for their song "South" as the sprightly number, a hit among our listeners, continues to spread nationally. The band are busily touring the U.S., but they'll come back home this summer to play Rock the Garden.
Reina del Cid: The Naked Songwriter
DEMO's "Naked Songwriter" video series is awkwardly titled, but it's stepped up its technical game for its second season spotlighting local music makers. In the new season's debut episode, Reina del Cid takes the mic in the same Minneapolis studio where Bob Dylan recorded much of Blood on the Tracks. Later this month, you can catch her at the Mid West Music Fest.
OSO: "Head in the Clouds"
It seems like the spring snow is determined to keep falling as long as local artists are releasing wintry music videos. In OSO’s new clip for the dreamy "Head in the Clouds," a lovelorn spaceman wanders the wastes of Kansas.
Tufawon: "Lucid Dream"
We're not in Kansas anymore: Minneapolis rapper Tufawon visits Columbia and Cuba as well as his own Mill City in a clip for "Lucid Dream." The song appears on The Send Off, an EP inspired by the artist's recent global travel and the new perspective it's given him. What's the itinerant artist up to next? Well...
Ben Lubeck: "Sweet Thing"
Delano may be best-known for its surreal drive-in and dancing chicken, but it's also home to the historic Rieder Homestead, where singer-songwriter Ben Lubeck holed up to record a series of videos that kick off with this sweet take on "Sweet Thing." Lubeck will be playing a house show at the venue next month, but in the meantime you can catch him with Pat Mazurek and Joey Ryan on April 20 in Excelsior.
