Patrick's Cabaret ousted from site

Minneapolis institution Patrick's Cabaret has announced that its lease has been terminated, and that it needs to vacate its historic Longfellow firehouse by May 31. "We have not identified a physical space for relocation," said executive artistic director Scott Artley in a statement. The final event to be held in the organization's current space will be a 30th anniversary cabaret next month; this summer's Longfellow Roots Rock and Deep Blues Festival is scheduled to take place as planned.

Recording industry grows (a little)

The Recording Industry Association of America has released full revenue figures for 2015 — and the industry grew over 2014, though by less than a tenth of a percent. Streaming has officially emerged as the industry's leading source of revenue: streaming income made up 34% of the industry's $7 billion revenue, slightly more than income from either download sales (a slightly smaller 34%) or physical sales (28%). In a development that some industry observers found ominous, the income per song stream dropped by almost 24% from 2014 — meaning that people are streaming more, but paying less per stream.
