33 years after its founding, the food and music festival A Taste of Minnesota has come to an end. The announcement came via a statement sent to media on Thursday afternoon by the festival's former general manager Linda Maddox. She writes:

At its peak, A Taste of Minnesota was one of the Twin Cities' biggest annual festivals — featuring well-known national headliners on the grounds of the Minnesota State Capitol and then on Harriet Island. After a series of ups and downs, the event declared bankruptcy in 2010. Later, it bounced back to take place in Waconia.

"Thank you to the fans, vendors and visitors who supported A Taste of Minnesota throughout the years," Maddox's statement concludes. "I’m also deeply grateful to our gracious hosts in Waconia and Carver County, and to the team in Saint Paul who supported us in our first 26 years."
