A rising band on the Minneapolis metal and hard rock scene, Sleep Signals (not to be confused with Sleep Study) take a turn towards accessibility on their new EP Transitions — a follow-up to last year's album Open Your Eyes. The band's anthemic new material is perfect to play in your car real loud, or, of course, to hear live. The band celebrated the EP's release on Sunday with a show at the Park in Fridley, and they're currently on tour with Cornhusker State headbang kings Screaming for Silence. Transitions will be released on Friday.

The Last Revel: The Last Revel vinyl release

The Last Revel’s 2015 self-titled album will sound all that much more high and lonesome on vinyl, which the band is dropping on Thursday at the Turf Club with support from Gabriel Douglas and Dead Horses. The passionate Americana trio will appeal to fans of local bands like Trampled By Turtles and Tin Can Gin. Just back from a "humbling, inspiring, and motivating" weekend at the Folk Alliance International conference in Missouri, the band are raring to return to their local fans.

My Generation

My Generation is a new EP created by a group of Minneapolis youth who convened last summer for a music education program at the downtown FAIR School. As Peter Diamond noted in a post about the program: "Described as 'a very unique music project that tells the students’ stories of the generation they live in and what they face day to day in order to become successful in life,' My Generation is a collection as diverse as those who brought it together – containing elements of hip-hop, spoken word, R&B, and rock and roll.” IPR's Live Lab Room will host a free release party for the EP, Thursday night starting at 6:30.

Poolboy: Poolboy

Poolboy describe themselves as a "band born in chlorine in Minneapolis circa 2015." Their self-titled EP suggests Radiohead at its most pop-friendly, with macabre lyrics like "Leave the light on 'cause I'm scared of the dark/ Trapped in a cooler made out of my ex-girlfriends' hearts/ It's pretty disgusting to sleep in/ But I guess that's my own fault." The band are playing a release show Sunday night at the 7th Street Entry, with Swimsuit Area and Autumn Kid.
