Dixie Chicks announce Minnesota State Fair shows
November 16, 2015
Thanksgiving hasn't even happened yet, but people are already thinking about next year's Minnesota State Fair concerts. The Dixie Chicks just announced that they will be playing at the Grandstand on Aug. 27, 2016 as part of their U.S. tour. It has been over ten years since their last U.S. tour and, as singer Natalie Maines stated in a Facebook post, "there's no telling what will happen."
Update 11/30: After a quick sellout of the first show, the Dixie Chicks have announced a second Grandstand show: Aug. 28, with tickets on sale Dec. 11.
The country trio, who were a dominant force on country charts in the late 1990s and early 2000s, collaborated with Minnesota musicians Dan Wilson and Gary Louris on 2006's acclaimed Taking The Long Way—their most recent studio album, which will be over ten years old by the time they're serenading the State Fair. Over the years they've won 13 Grammy awards as well as multiple Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards.
Tickets go on sale this Friday Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. Prices are $57 and $67, all seats reserved, and can be purchased online from Etix or by calling (800) 514-3849. In addition, there will be a special limited-time sale at the State Fairgrounds Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday. This is the second 2016 Grandstand concert to be announced; Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas will be co-headlining on Aug. 31.
