Theft of the Dial: Wolf Alice
by Daniel Nass and Wolf Alice
October 16, 2015
After releasing two EPs — Blush in 2013, and 2014's Creature Songs — Wolf Alice's My Love is Cool was one of 2015's most hotly-anticipated releases. It's been receiving critical praise around the globe, and recently earned a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize (an annual award for best album from the UK and Ireland).
They were in town for a show at First Avenue earlier this month, and Theo and Ellie were kind enough to stop by The Current to chat with Jade in our studios, where they discussed the Wolf Alice fanzine and the level of 'closeness' bandmates achieve while on tour. As Theo points out, "Me and Ellie literally... open the curtains at the same time and wake up staring at each other."
They also discussed their video for "Moaning Lisa Smile" (which you can see below), and its theme of "a girl trying to find her crew." With regard to the dancing throughout the video, Theo points out, "We wanted it to be slick and pro, but obviously if you give... four idiots dance moves, it's not going to be pro. It's going to be a version of pro — especially in those heels."
Listen to some of Wolf Alice's music, as well as music of some of their favorite and influential artists, as they take over The Current's airwaves for Theft of the Dial.
