9:30 Coffee Break: Hand Claps
by Jill Riley and Sean McPherson
September 28, 2015
Listener Brett sent us an email recently. "I love songs with clapping in them!" she writes. "They make me ridiculously happy and there are a few I come back to all the time just to clap along."
Clapping hands is one of the simplest instruments there is, and as Brett suggests, making music can put a smile on our faces. It's certainly a lot of fun to clap along to songs that include hand claps on the beat. So let's get happy on this Monday morning and embrace Brett's idea.
So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that include hand claps? Send us your requests.
And thank you to Brett for her suggestion!
Songs Played
The Meters "Handclapping Song"
The Cars "My Best Friend's Girl"
The Beatles "I Want to Hold Your Hand"
The Romantics "What I Like About You"
JD McPherson "Abigail Blue" (recorded live in The Current studios, featuring Current staffers on handclaps)
Stealers Wheel "Stuck in the Middle with You"
The Cure "Close to Me"
