Today is the beginning of the Minnesota State Fair, so we thought it would be fun to play a coffee break with songs that connect to the sights, sounds and smells of the Minnesota State Fair.

Here's a little primer: for the sights of the fair, revisit this stunning 2014 gallery from MPR News. There are some great "mystery" sounds from the fair here, (and of course, don't miss Bill DeVille's music preview). And for the smells and tastes of the fair, you can't do better than Dara Moskowitz-Grumdahl's annual State Fair food round-up.

So for today's Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that evoke the sights, sounds and smells of the State Fair? Send us your requests.

Songs played

Lizzo - "Batches and Cookies"
Ohio Players - "Love Rollercoaster"
Beck - "Nausea"
The Suburbs - "Cows"
The Beatles - "Ticket to Ride"
Def Leppard - "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
