Cube Critic: 'San Andreas'
May 29, 2015
Cube Critic Stephanie Curtis stops by The Current's Morning Show to talk to Jill Riley and Sean McPherson about San Andreas starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Directed by Brad Peyton, San Andreas is an action-adventure disaster film. The cast also includes Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, Paul Giamatti and Kylie Minogue.
In the film, Dwayne Johnson plays a heroic first responder that works on the Los Angeles Fire Department's search and rescue team. Spoiler Alert: When a big earthquake hits the West Coast, "The Rock turns into the worst first responder of all time," says Curtis. Johnson flees L.A. with a stolen helicopter to save his daughter in San Francisco. "I think it's negligent. [laughs] Terrible public service!"
"If you're a first responder listening, please don't abandon us!" pleads Curtis, "We are grateful and we appreciate your work!"
But the action scenes are thrilling and the post-production work is fantastic. "Just give me footage of the Hoover dam exploding!" Listen to the audio player above to hear Stephanie's complete review.
San Andreas is rated PG-13 and is playing at theaters everywhere.
