Since releasing "Stolen Dance" in their native Germany, Milky Chance have been brushed with success stateside (it now has nearly 150,000,000 YouTube views).
Before their (very) sold out show at Mill City Nights in Minneapolis Milky Chance—Clemens Rehbein, Philipp Dausch and Antonio Greger—stopped by The Current to record an in-studio session and to chat with host David Campbell.
"Flashed Junk Mind," the first song on their debut full-length Sadnecessary, was written shortly after Clemens and Antonio graduated from secondary school in Kassel. The two had made music together before, specifically as a jazz quartet. After the other two members left the band, though, Milky Chance was born.
"I've never written a song in German," says Rehbein, explaining that the music that has influenced his songwriting is sung in English. Listen to the full in-studio session to hear Clemens' attempt to sing a verse of "Stolen Dance" in German.
