Eating and Drinking with Solo Vino's Chuck Kanski: Happy Rosé Season
May 13, 2015
Owner of full service wine shop, Solo Vino, and wine expert for Minnesota Monthly's New Vintage, Chuck Kanski joins the Current's Morning Show to talk about wine trends in Minnesota and around the world.
This week, Chuck joins us to talk about rosé season. "It's my favorite time of the year," Chuck says. "Everybody's talking about it, everybody's drinking it, everybody's buying it."
Chuck explains that a rosé is something that would pair well with just about anything. It also can please the palates of either white- or red-wine drinkers.
Although the most esteemed rosés have traditionally come from the Provence region in southern France, Chuck says that global climate change has advanced the cause of German rosé producers; he even predicts that of Solo Vino's top 10 rosés for 2015, seven or eight will be from Germany.
Rosé season is summertime, and Chuck recommends Guilhem, a rosé that can be purchased for about $10 per bottle.
Guilhem blanc, rosé and rouge can be found at the following retailers about town:
