Throbbing Hive with Wits' John Moe: Ryan Gosling does something very cool
May 12, 2015

Every Tuesday at 7:30am Wits host John Moe stops into the Morning Show to share the latest news in Technology.
This week, John Moe chatted with The Morning Show's Jill Riley and Sean McPherson (in for Steve Seel) to talk about Ryan Gosling's very cool tribute to the late creator of a meme. John also talks about a new computer that costs nine bucks.
Ryan Gosling finally eats his cereal
This first item revisits a very funny meme from a few years ago. A series of Vine videos by Ryan McHenry called "Ryan Gosling won't eat his cereal" depicts Gosling turning away dramatically from a proffered spoonful of cereal.
Sadly, Ryan McHenry passed away from osteosarcoma, but some fans reached out to Ryan Gosling and asked him to eat some cereal. So Gosling did so, in the wordless subtlety of the original.
Remember the $35 computer? Here's one for nine bucks
Back in February, we talked about the Raspberry Pi that cost only $35. That is a fortune compared to what's coming next: A Kickstarter campaign has helped fund the Chip, a $9 computer. About the size of a credit card, the Chip has a 1 GHz CPU, 512 GB RAM, and 4 GB storage running on a LINUX desktop. "It's not really a computer to give to your mom to help her keep up with Facebook," John says. "It's more for tinkerers and more for people who want to explore what's possible without sinking $1000 into the guts of the machine."
In addition to providing further proof of concept for the ultra-cheap PC, John says what's really exciting about the Chip "is the implications it has for the developing world, to get computers into the hands of people who can innovate with them if only given the chance is now much more possible than it's ever been."
