Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear perform at the SXSW Public Radio Day Stage
March 20, 2015
Exuding Midwestern sincerity and niceness, Madisen Ward and Ruth Ward, a mother-and-son acoustic blues duo, make it clear they are thrilled about making their SXSW debut. "Everyone's been real polite to us," Madisen says, "and the barbecue is just as good as where we're from — Kansas City."
Talking about barbecue is serious business in both Austin and in Kansas City, and the affable Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear take their music equally seriously. They completely captivate the crowd in this performance at the SXSW Public Radio Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center.
Kicking out a soulful strand of folk music, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear have a debut album, The Skeleton Crew, set for a May 19 release on New York label Glassnote Records.
