It began modestly enough. Isabella Manfredi, Jack Moffitt and Tom Champion met as students at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, and they started playing music together. "We were playing bad covers of classic bands," Manfredi recalls. "Then we decided to be in a band and dropped out."

Rounding out the lineup with Gideon Benson and Luke Davison, the Preatures got a couple of EPs under their belts before releasing their first full-length album, Blue Planet Eyes, in September 2014. The album debuted at number four in the Australian charts. The single, "Is This How You Feel?", earned The Preatures Australia's coveted Vanda & Young Songwriting Award — and saw the Preatures get inducted into The Current's Chart Show Hall of Fame.

After playing a lively show at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, the Preatures stopped by The Current studio to play some songs off Blue Planet Eyes and to talk with Steve Seel.
