Interview: Glenn Tilbrook
by Mary Lucia
October 14, 2014
Glenn Tilbrook is known for his work as a solo artist as well as his long career as part of the band Squeeze. "It's good to be around now and to have all that history," Tilbrook says.
In town to play a solo gig at the Turf Club in St. Paul, Tilbrook dropped in to The Current's broadcast studio to chat with Mary Lucia about his solo album, Happy Ending ("[The title] could be misconstrued as being sexual," Tilbrook says, "but I assure you it was the furthest thing from my mind"), about his writing partnership with Chris Difford and how Squeeze were named after what Tilbrook calls "a stinker of a record."
Tilbrook also talks about what motivates him as an artist and his preferred methods of songwriting. He also talks about his work with the Love Hope Strength Foundation, a charitable foundation whose purpose is to raise funds and awareness in order to benefit people with cancer and leukemia.
