The Ericksons perform live in The Current studio
by David Campbell, The Ericksons and Leah Garaas
September 29, 2014
The Ericksons introduce an unexpected instrument on their forthcoming Bring Me Home: a synthesizer. But the electro sound heard on tracks like "My Love" is a natural progression for the sister duo. Bethany Valentini has played piano for years, and after inheriting a synth from sister Jenny Kapernick's husband's uncle, the duo decided to incorporate the instrument into the new record.
Bring Me Home releases Sept. 30. Jenny and Bethany enlisted producer Beau Sorenson again and recorded at Justin Vernon's April Base studio with "highly skilled and sensitive musicians" like Ben Lester and Shane Leonard of Field Report and Michael Lewis of Bon Iver and Alpha Consumer. Sean Carey — stage name S.Carey — even sings the first non-sister duet with Jenny on "Borderline." Bring Me Home is the Ericksons' best and brightest yet.
The Ericksons' Bring Me Home album release show is this Friday, Oct. 3, at the Cedar Cultural Center with opening act BBGUN.
