After a two-week hiatus, First Aid Kit return to the top for the second week holding off a strong surge by the New Pornographers, who just lost founding drummer Kurt Dahle, and a very high new entry by Interpol, who seem to have overcome the loss of their iconic bassist Carlos Dengler!
Submit your Chart Show ballot for a chance to win tickets to Ryan Adams' show at the newly renovated Northrop on Monday, Oct. 13!
Another high new entry this week comes from local power-duo Lizzo and Caroline Smith. "Let 'Em Say" sales help raise money and awareness for the Women's Foundation of Minnesota, who will also benefit from the sold out show at First Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 27 and the added Friday, Sept. 26 date!
The Rural Alberta Advantage crash back into our Chart this week, too. They're playing the big POP Montreal International Music Festival this weekend and play a gig at First Avenue on Friday, Oct. 17. The new album Mended With Gold releases Sept. 30 on Saddle Creek.
Tweedy bounce back after a week out of favor, just in time to be celebrated as our Album of the Week. Mac Wilson calls it how he sees it: "I wish Sukierae was more interesting." The album is now streaming in full before it releases next week.
Brand new at #19, Chet Faker stopped by The Current to record an in-studio with Mary Lucia this week. The Australian musician makes his debut with "Built On Glass" and has a beautifully minimal, well-designed website. Speaking of minimal, the all important track #7 on the album is entitled "/"?!
We lost Andrew Bird after six weeks, PHOX again and Lana Del Rey, who just cancelled her European tour due to illness.
alt-J are inducted into the Chart Show Hall of Fame for the fourth time before their album even releases! You can find This Is All Yours this week on Spotify and the old fashioned way next Tuesday.
