Yesterday in London, reclusive singer-songwriter Kate Bush played her first show in front of a paying audience since 1979—and it was, by all reports, a stunner. The first of 22 shows planned for the Eventim Apollo, it was a multimedia experience devised with the help of musicians, actors, puppeteers, the writer David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas), and others. Though the setlist didn't include her best-known song, "Wuthering Heights," it did include full performances of the entire second side of her 1985 album Hounds of Love and the entire second disc of her two-disc 2005 album Aerial. As our colleagues at Classical MPR noted, Rubin nabbed a tape loop from minimalist composer Steve Reich to soundtrack the chilling video.
