In what could become the most anticipated comeback album since Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, Missy Elliott has "the hollow-tip bullet in the gun" to release a new album, says her longtime producer Timbaland—who also worked with Timberlake, for those who are following along at home. It's been almost ten years since Elliott's last release, 2005's The Cookbook. Meanwhile, Timbaland is working on a solo record he describes as his Purple Rain. (Rolling Stone)

Pop legend Darlene Love, 76, is preparing a new album to be produced by the E Street Band's Steven Van Zandt. "Little Steven," who's been trying to make this record happen since the 80s, says that he and Elvis Costello are both writing songs for the album—and that he's reached out to songwriters including Cynthia Weil, Barry Mann, Mike Stoller, Carole King, and Bruce Springsteen. Love is best-known for contributing vocals to Phil Spector classics like "He's a Rebel" and "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." (Rolling Stone)
