Angelo Adkins, infant son of Adele, has been awarded a five-figure settlement from Corbis Images UK, which the child's parents say has invaded their child's privacy by posting paparazzi photos of his "milestone moments." (Rolling Stone)
Mandatory Fun, the new album by "Weird Al" Yankovic, has debuted at #1 on the Billboard album chart. That makes it not only the first number-one album in the 54-year-old satirist's career, but the first comedy album to debut in the top slot since Allan Sherman released My Son, the Nut in 1963. While We're Young, the new film by Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Frances Ha), will star the Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock and feature a score by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. (Pitchfork) Meanwhile, Jenny Lewis contributed previously released songs and an original score to the new movie Very Good Girls, a coming-of-age film starring Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen. Watch Olsen, in the film, sing Rilo Kiley's "Go Ahead." Very Good Girls will be released locally on Friday.
Now even musicians' perfumes are being re-released in special editions: Britney Spears is presenting a new "stage edition" of her Fantasy scent. A serial smellmonger, Britney has now released 16 scents in the past ten years. A British coroner has ruled that the April death of Peaches Geldof—daughter of Live Aid founder Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats—was due to an overdose of heroin. (Billboard)
In local music news, the Star Tribune reports that the new 400 Bar venue at the Mall of America—previously planned to open by August 1 for a concert by Denny Laine—has now been delayed indefinitely. The Laine show, as well as a Monday show by Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden, will now take place in the "400 Gallery," a 100-capacity room in the Midwest Music Museum.
