Ron Howard will direct a new documentary about the Beatles' touring years—from their early days in Liverpool clubs to their final concert at Candlestick Park in 1966. Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, and George Harrison's widow Olivia have all endorsed the project and plan to cooperate with the making of the film. (Consequence of Sound)
As digital streaming has risen in popularity, independent record labels have been increasingly concerned that major labels have been striking more favorable deals with streaming services like Spotify. Over 700 indie labels have now united to make a "Fair Digital Deals Declaration" that asks for streaming revenue accounting to be more transparent and for negotiations with rights-holders to be more open.
