Today on The Current's Morning Show, Jill and Steve announced that Bob Mould is on the bill for this year's MN Music on a Stick lineup happening Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. Brother Ali, Doomtree, Cloud Cult, Har Mar Superstar and the Cactus Blossoms are also on the bill.
Surely Bob will be playing tracks off his forthcoming album, Beauty & Ruin, during his Minnesota State Fair debut Aug. 30. Earlier this year, Mould celebrated the 25th anniversary of Workbook, his first solo record after leaving Hüsker Dü that released in 1989.
On June 3, Bob Mould's new album Beauty & Ruin will be released, which you can stream now via Pitchfork Advance. Clocking in at 40 minutes, this is Mould's 11th solo record and follow-up to 2012's Silver Age. In an interview with Stereogum, Mould revealed that the writing process for the new record started after his father died, just a month after Silver Age released in Oct. 2012.
The album features bassist Jason Narducy and drummer Jon Wurster who have played alongside Mould for six years now, including his set at Rock the Garden last year. You can watch video of the trio performing "The Descent" and "Round the City Square" at Rock the Garden below.
