HAIM perform in The Current's studio

In town to play a sold-out show at First Avenue, HAIM stopped in to The Current's studio to play some songs off their album, Days Are Gone, and to talk with Mark Wheat.
The three sisters who form the core of HAIM — Alana, Danielle and Este — hit it off right away with Mark, with Este sharing just how excited she is to be in Prince's hometown and to play at First Avenue. "He's one of my biggest inspirations," Este says.
Reaching the point of playing sold-out shows in big venues has been a long road for HAIM, who played their first gig on 07-07-2007, in an abandoned clown museum. After toiling for years opening for friends' bands and playing for audiences composed of people they knew in Los Angeles, and with just a MySpace demo to their name, HAIM describe the arduous efforts they put into recording a full-length album that finally led to touring and to becoming one of the biggest music stories of the past year.
All three sisters and Mark bonded over their shared love of soccer, with Alana talking about her days as a center midfielder, Danielle talking about their father's footballing career and about their appearance in a soft drink commercial with the World Cup theme. Although the sisters were reluctant to reveal which Premier League clubs they support, all will be supporting Team USA when the World Cup kicks off in Brazil this summer.
Listen to the complete interview to hear more from the loquacious band, including stories of Este's near-misses at meeting Prince, and their reactions to playing the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury.
