"I never made a record the same way twice." — Ray Bonneville

Ray Bonneville's latest album Easy Gone is a piece of art. His songwriting is more solid than ever, and his groove is as strong and steady as a freight train. He says he came into the studio with a collection of sketches and ideas for some songs and then let them take shape with the help of his longtime musical collaborators, Gurf Morlix and Geoff Arsenault. After some tweaking, pinching and pulling, the outline became a painting.

Easy Gone is Ray's eighth album — his fourth on Red House Records. He's been playing music since his 20s, but only started writing songs after his 40th birthday. His music has earned him a Juno Award, and his song, "I Am The Big Easy," earned the International Folk Alliance's 2009 Song of the Year award.

Ray Bonneville stopped by the Radio Heartland studios to play a few songs and talk about his newest album.
