9:30 Coffee Break: Inappropriate Undertones

January 14, 2014

Police Don't Stand So Close To Me
What songs besides "Don't Stand So Close to Me" make you feel a little creepy?
album cover art

Have you ever listened to a song or found yourself singing along to a song and been suddenly struck by how creepy or gross the lyrics were? Listener Colin, in Minneapolis, wrote in talking about this predicament. Colin said, "'Don't Stand So Close to Me' by The Police came on yesterday and a coworker said it was one of the most celebrated songs that no one realized was a little creepy. I retorted with 'Sweet Caroline'." Yep Colin, those songs are a little creepy.

What songs with inappropriate undertones (stalking, admiration of someone underaged, etc.) should we play for today's 9:30 Coffee Break?

Do you like coffee, treats, The Morning Show, and music? Jill and Steve will visit you the last Friday of the month with treats from JJ's Coffee and Wine Bistro and musical guest Charlie Parr prior to his show at The Cedar Feb. 1. Just send an email to: CoffeeBreak@TheCurrent.org and let us know why you deserve a Coffee Break.
