The Chart Show: 'Royals' Crowned Again

Lorde returns to the top for the fifth week total. Her album was released in the U.S., and she got good reviews for her sold-out NYC shows. Great to hear that she includes her cover of The Replacements' "Swingin' Party". That might expose them to a whole new audience!
More excitement in NYC this week with the return of Arcade Fire on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. One of the guests not mentioned in this review is Michael Lewis, local sax master, part of Happy Apple, Bon Iver's touring band and the Gayngs gang! He was spotted by Erik of City Pages who suggests, rather bizarrely for me, that Arcade Fire are the most unserious band of the moment?!
Franz slip down from the #1 spot this week. You can still get tickets for their show at the Skyway Theater next Wednesday. Arctic Monkeys slip also, but they have a few more hits in their bag on the new album which is The Current's CD of the Week.
Speaking of the Brit contingent on the Chart, soccer and music go hand in hand over there, so every week we'll bring the two together on our blog with the new feature On the Ball. If you support an EPL team, tell us which one and why in the comments section below.
The members of CHVRCHES pointed out in their in-studio a few weeks back that if they revealed which of the two Glasgow teams they support, they would lose half their hometown audience. It's THAT serious! Lauren Mayberry of the band also mentioned her work as a journalist trying to fight sexism, which she has made headlines with this week.
We lost Har Mar Superstar and Elvis Costello and The Roots after only one week, and TV on the Radio after three. Savages and Poliça return after a week's hiatus.
Chan Poling of The Suburbs returns to his other project The New Standards; he'll be on The Morning Show with Jill and Steve Friday morning when tickets go on sale for their big holiday show, which this year takes place at the larger State Theater.
