October 15, 2012
Minneapolis' Night Moves released their debut album Colored Emotions for free online in 2011, setting off a wave of buzz that rapidly established them as one of the most promising and talented young bands on the local scene. Americana-tinged single "Headlights" became a staple on The Current's airwaves, and the band played our seventh birthday party at First Ave in January 2012.
Ultimately, the hype surrounding the young quartet would land them on the roster of esteemed UK indie label Domino Records. Now, Night Moves have returned with a revamped and re-recorded take on their debut, building on the original's rootsy, hook-laden psychedelic rock with lush instrumentation and richly textured production.
As the band prepared for the album's re-release —nan occasion they'll celebrate with a First Ave show on Tuesday, October 16 —nthey stopped by The Current studios to chat with Mark Wheat and play a few songs.
Songs played: "Headlights," "Country Queen" and "Colored Emotions."
