The Valdons perform in The Current studios

The Valdons were one of the most popular funk and soul groups of the late '60s and early '70s in the Twin Cities. After disbanding, the quartet never dropped their passion for music, continuing to perform with other bands and as solo artists. So Minnesotans and the rest of the world are getting a rare treat: the modern day reincarnation of The Valdons courtesy of Secret Stash Records.
The label is releasing Twin Cities Funk & Soul: Lost R&B Grooves from Minneapolis & Saint Paul 1964-1979, a collection of songs from the likes of Willie Walker, Wanda Davis, Jackie Harris, Prophets Of Peace and many others.
In celebration, they've helped get The Valdons back together with the Twin Cities Funk and Soul All-Stars accompanying. And they all dropped by The Current studios for one of the most jam-packed sessions in a long time. Let's hope this isn't the last we hear from The Valdons — they've still got it.
Songs performed: "I Who Have Nothing (Tom Jones cover)," "All Day Long" and "Love Me, Or Leave Me"
