by David Campbell and The Honeydogs
December 04, 2011
As a recent tradition on The Local Show we invite a local band into the studio to perform a few tunes made famous by The Beatles in honor of the Minnesota Beatle Project. This year we invited The Honeydogs to put their spin on three classic Beatles songs.
Now in it's third year the MN Beatle Project collected 15 Minnesota based musicians to cover the Fab Four. This year's artist include Cloud Cult, Motion City Sound Track, 4onthefloor, Tapes n' Tapes, The Anoka Middle School Band and more. All proceeds of the compilation to go building music and art programs in local schools. Mark Gehring the founder of Vega Productions - the organization behind the project and Sabrina Olson the director of the Anoka Middle School band also stopped by the studio to chat about the charitable impact of the project.
Minnesota Beatle Project Volume 3 will be released and in stores on December 6th. The release show is happening in conjunction with Curtiss A's 32nd Annual Tribute to John Lennon on December 8th at First Avenue.
Songs performed: "I'm Looking Through You," "Dig A Pony," and "Dear Prudence."
