Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Dan Mangan has been making sturdy, smart music for nearly a decade now. His trademark blend of guitar- and piano-driven indie-rock and folk was first crystallized on his debut EP, All at Once. Mangan soon followed with his debut LP Postcards and Daydreaming in 2005 and his sophomore full-length Nice, Nice, Very Nice in 2009.
In September, Mangan released his third full-length album, Oh Fortune. Relying on a more expansive and ornate sound, with orchestral arrangements featuring prominently on several tracks. Out on the Toronto independent label Arts & Crafts, Oh Fortune caught the attention of music critics and has even performed impressively on the Canadian album charts.
Dan Mangan stopped by The Current studios to chat with Mark Wheat and play a few songs.
Songs played: "Oh Fortune," "Leaves, Tress, Forest" and "Starts With Them, Ends With Us."
