Doomtree MC and Minnesota native Sims (born Andrew Sims) has been rapping from a young age, and got involved with Twin Cities hip-hop heavyweight P.O.S. in high school. Their local rap collective Doomtree, which also includes Dessa, Lazerbeak and more, has since grown to become one of the primary forces in Minnesota hip-hop and in local music in general.

Sims released his debut album, "Lights Out Paris," in 2005. His second official full-length release, "Bad Time Zoo," dropped earlier this week on Doomtree Records, and Sims will herald its release at an official release party Saturday, February 19th at the Fine Line Music Cafe.

Sims stopped by The Current studios to talk about his music and his upcoming show and to play a few tracks.

Songs played: "Burn It Down," "LMG" and "Hey You."
