Though members of local band Alpha Consumer play with other artists--locals Dosh, Fat Kid Wednesdays, Happy Apple, and Haley Bonar--they rock the Twin Cities hard first and foremost as Alpha Consumer.

Multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Ylvisaker, son of '60s Christian rock figurehead John Ylvisaker, cites Stephen Colbert as the inspiration behind the band's ironic (and sometimes sentimental) lyrics. He also attributes the band's name to the archetypal villain in Adam Sandler and John Hughes movies. Alpha Consumer recently released its third studio album, Kick Drugs Out of America.

Alpha Consumer stopped by the Local Show for a live performance. Songs performed: "Cry Bullets," Honey Effigy/Life Size Voodoo Doll," and "Yeah Trouble."
