Mason Jennings was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and spent some of his younger years in Pittsburgh before moving to Minneapolis.
After Mason's father gave him a series of tapes featuring bands from the Twin Cities music scene, Mason started writing songs and by age 19, booking agencies and record labels starting making offers.
Jennings, however, decided to do it himself and released his debut "Mason Jennings" in 1997. The album received significant local airplay, resulting in a weekly Thursday night gig at Minneapolis' 400 Bar, thereby earning Mason even more fans within the Twin Cities.
Mason Jennings stopped by The Current studios for a live performance and chat with Current DJ Mark Wheat.
Songs performed: "Machines", "Ain't Gonna Die" and "Sing Out".
