The Current’s annual FREE Rock the Cradle event for kids and their grownups to explore music, art and culture returns Sunday, June 9, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) and Children’s Theatre Company (CTC). 

Rock the Cradle is great for kids of all ages but best suited for the age group of 2 to 10.

Event Schedule:

  • Performance Schedule – Mia Reception Hall

    • 10:15 a.m. - O'Shea Irish Dance (30min)

    • 11:45 a.m. - O'Shea Irish Dance (30min)

    • 1:30 p.m. - Smash Boom Best: Music instrument (30min)

    • 2:30 p.m. - Smash Boom Best (30min)

    Between performances in the Reception Hall there will be quiet background music played as a nice place for families and kids to relax and take a break if needed.

  • Kids Disco Schedule CTC - Cargill Stage: 

    • 10:00 a.m. - CTC: Music in Motion (30min)

    • 10:30 a.m. - DJ Ayisha Jaffer from The Current     

    • 12:30 p.m. - CTC: Music in Motion (30min)             

    • 1:00 p.m. - DJ Ayisha Jaffer from The Current     

    • 3:00 p.m. - Kids Disco END

  • Event Details:

    • Stroller Parking: Kids’ Disco (CTC Cargill Stage), Mia Reception Hall (MacMillan Atrium).

    • Event parking is in the MIA parking ramp adjacent to CTC is $20 and has limited availability. MIA and CTC surface lots are $15 Street parking can be found around MIA and CTC.

    • Bag Check: Bags allowed into the galleries will be tagged, large bags will be required to be checked at the 3rd Avenue entrance or the entrance at the Target Wing.

      Children’s Theatre Company: All activities at Children’s Theatre Company are ADA Accessible.

      An ADA accessible seating area is located in the Reception Hall and outside in the Target Courtyard for performances taking place there. If you would like to request accommodations please email events@mpr.org two weeks prior to June 9th to make arrangements. We will make every effort we can to ensure all can enjoy this event.
