The Orange Goodness is an exciting groove-infused alt/indie rock band from Minneapolis. Mike Michel (vocals/guitars) Ian Allison (bass) & Reese Kling (drums) have been in the psyche of music enthusiasts for their sidemen work with MN greats Dessa, Haley, Jeremy Messersmith, Desdamona, and Iffy, but their first love is writing and performing groove-infused alt/indie rock songs. Drawing inspiration from artists like Gorillaz, Beck, Cake, & Vulfpeck, The Orange Goodness are sponges for global rhythms and organic analog sounds that move and inspire. The Orange Goodness are trying to help the planet one song and one gig at a time! https://theorangegoodness.com/epk

AfroGeode & The Gemstones is a multi-genre band with a heavy Jazz and Soul influence. The band is an incredibly talented and versatile group of musicians with deep appreciation for jazz, funk, and soul. They are known for their timely, progressive, original song compositions, as well as creatively reimagined covers. This is a band that is known to elicit a variety of emotions in their sets and can go from heart grabbing blues to upbeat funk and soul in a matter of minutes. They are known for specifically curated setlists that are crafted with intentionality. www.dansancreatives.org/afrogeode

About the Workshop Presenters

Shantel Dow: Shantel Dow has been a booking agent and entrepreneur since 2000. Dow Artists, Inc. was founded in 2004 as a customer-friendly agency to serve the artists and presenters partnering great shows for communities large and small throughout the United States and internationally. In 2020, the agency name was changed to Studio 35 representing musicians and playwrights primarily for performing arts center performances.

Scott LeGere: Over the past 20 years, Scott LeGere has played key roles in the ownership and operation of audio recording facilities, independent record labels, media schools, and commercial music production companies. During this time, he has engineered Grammy nominated albums, produced critically acclaimed independent projects, lectured nationally at conferences and events, and foolishly hauled both Yamaha CP-70s and Hammond B3s (concurrently) to gigs all over the country.

In 2010, he co-founded NoWare Media, a composition focused sound agency, and helped produce Clio, Emmy, and Cannes Lion award winning commercial spots for corporate clients such as Target, Walmart, The Minnesota Wild, Bauer Hockey, BluDot, and others.

In addition to his professional commitments, Scott has concentrated much of his recent time and efforts into empowering the next generation of creatives, teaching at a variety of Minnesota colleges and universities. Now an Assistant Professor of Music Industries at Minnesota State Mankato, Scott tries desperately to translate the above “career” into a model for aspiring musicians and industry professionals.
