On Monday, January 17 at 7 p.m. Central, The Avant Garde will be presenting the first annual MLK: The Music Tribute. This will be a special live streamed concert shown virtually on YouTube featuring the incredible talents of: Margeaux Davis, NUR-D, Thandisizwe Jackson-Nisan, Diwan Smith and Ms. Tenaj. They will be performing from four different parts of the nation: Twin Cities (Minnesota), New York City, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh.

It will be a concert of R&B/Neo-Soul, Spokenword Poetry and Hip-Hop. The songs and poetics will have a subject matter that reflects the message of Dr. Martin Luther King. It will be hosted and narrated by Chadwick Phillips, aka Niles. With everything going on in society right now, we are honored to bring art and an experience that is healing, positive, empowering and reassuring to the people in the name of Dr. King.
