The Time Machine invades 1971 this time, the year of John Prine's debut album. It was a good year for women in music: Bonnie Raitt dropped her debut; Dolly Parton had her first number-one hit; and Carole King released her multiple Grammy winning Tapestry effort. Marvin Gaye released a masterpiece, while The Band painted a masterpiece. English rock was everywhere, with big albums from Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, the Faces and T. Rex. The film Shaft was issued; Isaac Hayes provided the funky soundtrack. And John Lennon wrote a song for the ages. It's all 1971, our year on this episode of Time Machine Tuesday from The Current.
