January 15, 2022
This week on Teenage Kicks, we celebrate Sade, who has a birthday on January 16. The singer Helen Folasade Adu was born in Nigeria, raised in London, and schooled on American soul classics, first singing in British funk band Pride before forming Sade the band, whose debut album Diamond Life was a worldwide smash. Sade's impact still remains large, with shoutouts from Beyoncé to Kanye to Adele, based on her iconic songs.
